Christina welcomes Amanda Student Observer

Amanda Lauersdorf!

I am a second-year Clinical Psychology master's student at Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas and I am so excited to work with Christina as I begin my observation hours.

Pursuing a degree in mental health is a big career change for me, as I have been a Registered Nurse for 10 years. Although I have no experience in traditional mental health roles, I have chosen positions that are "heavy" in mental health, which I believe is where my calling is. Over the last 10 years, I have worked in hospice, acute psychiatric inpatient care, and the public school system. My current position is as a correctional nurse for the Bureau of Prisons. I have also been proudly serving in the military since 2020 as a commissioned officer in the Army Nurse Corps.

My husband and I are a dual-military, blended family household, and we live here in north Fort Worth with our children, three dogs, and two cats.
